There’s something special about the way food and photography go hand-in-hand. One tells the story of taste, tradition, and gathering, while the other freezes those moments in time forever. Today, I get to celebrate both — because it’s Pig Roast Day here in Whitewater! 🎉
🔥 A Feast of Flavor with Lovely Jubbly BBQ
My husband is the mastermind behind Lovely Jubbly BBQ & Catering, and let me tell you… he’s bringing the HEAT today. Smoky, slow-cooked, melt-in-your-mouth BBQ that’s been tended to with care since the early morning hours. From the first spark of the grill to the last bite of pulled pork, it’s all about passion, patience, and flavor that lingers long after the plate is clean.
BBQ isn’t just food — it’s an experience. The sizzle, the aroma, the laughter around the table. It’s messy hands and happy hearts. And if you’ve ever had his ribs or pulled pork sandwiches, you know exactly what I’m talking about.
🎉 A Day of Community + Connection
This free Pig Roast & Block Party is more than just a meal. It’s a celebration of community — families gathering, kids playing, neighbors laughing, and friends old and new connecting over a plate of BBQ. With games, a bouncy castle, a fire engine, sidewalk chalk, and face painting, there’s something here for everyone.
It’s the kind of day that reminds me why I love small-town Wisconsin so much: big hearts, warm smiles, and events that bring us together.
💛 What It’s Like Working With My Husband
One of my favorite parts of events like this is that I get to share the day not just with my community, but with my husband. While I’m behind the lens capturing memories, he’s behind the grill creating them. It’s a partnership that goes far beyond “work.”
There’s a rhythm we’ve found together, a give-and-take that feels almost like a dance:
- He’s the fire. The spark, the energy, the smoke curling through the air. He brings the heat, the sizzling ribs, the pulled pork that melts in your mouth — the flavor people talk about long after the plates are empty.
- I’m the frame. The observer, the memory-keeper, the one freezing those sticky-fingered grins, the hugs of friends catching up, the golden light hitting the grill just right. I catch the atmosphere he creates so it can be relived over and over again.
Together, we’re weaving two sides of the same story. He feeds people with food, and I feed them with memories. And in both, the heart of it is connection.
There’s a joy in watching him in his element — the way he leans over the smoker with laser focus, the little smile he gets when someone takes their first bite, the pride he feels when people go back for seconds. I recognize that joy because it mirrors my own — the sparkle in my chest when a client sees their photos for the first time, or when they send me a message saying, “These pictures made me cry happy tears.” Different crafts, but the same heart.
Working side by side has taught us so much about trust. He trusts me to capture the legacies of these moments, to frame the laughter and love in ways that families will treasure forever. I trust him to create flavor and warmth that make the day unforgettable. It’s teamwork. It’s balance. And honestly? It’s a whole lot of fun.
🙌 Two Passions, One Goal
At the end of the day, both photography and BBQ are about so much more than the “product.” They’re about people. They’re about gathering, celebrating, and creating moments that matter.
Photography tells the story you’ll share for generations. BBQ creates the atmosphere that pulls everyone together around a table. When combined, it’s not just an event — it’s an experience. It’s laughter echoing across a church lawn, the smell of smoke in the September air, the sticky fingers of kids running through the grass, and the snapshots of joy that will be remembered long after.
When I think about it, that’s what I love most about working with my husband: knowing that in our own ways, we’re both helping families and friends celebrate life’s sweetest, smokiest, and most meaningful moments. His flavor, my frame. His fire, my focus. One story told two ways — both meant to last.
