There is something so special about a winter engagement session—the quiet snowfall, the soft light, the way everything feels a little slower and more intentional. Malorie and Dave’s engagement session in downtown Fort Atkinson was exactly that: romantic, relaxed, and full of the kind of genuine connection that makes photographing a couple so easy.
We started outside in downtown Fort Atkinson, where the snowy streets and soft winter glow created the dreamiest backdrop. Even in the cold, these two made everything feel warm. From the way Dave held Malorie close to the way she looked at him with that effortless smile, every moment between them felt natural and full of love. Their chemistry was undeniable, and it made this entire session feel so personal and intimate.
One of my favorite things about winter sessions is how cozy they naturally become, and Malorie and Dave leaned right into that. Wrapped up in each other, laughing between poses, and completely in their own little world, they made the snowy downtown setting feel incredibly romantic. The contrast of the winter scenery with their warmth and connection was so beautiful. It felt like the kind of love story that doesn’t need anything extravagant—just the two of them together.
After spending time outside, we headed to Two Twenty in Fort Atkinson, which gave us the perfect change of pace and atmosphere. The indoor portion of their session added such a fun, elevated, and moody feel to the gallery. Between the exposed brick, warm lighting, cocktails, and cozy corners, it was the perfect setting to capture a different side of their relationship. The combination of downtown winter charm and the intimate vibe inside Two Twenty made this session feel unique from beginning to end.
I especially loved how this session told more than one story. Outside, it felt soft, playful, and wintry. Inside, it shifted into something more modern, cozy, and date-night inspired. It captured both the adventurous and everyday sides of their relationship, which is always what I hope for in an engagement session. The best galleries are the ones that feel like you, and this one felt so true to Malorie and Dave.
And can we talk about Malorie’s ring for a second? Absolutely stunning. Getting to capture those little detail shots alongside all of the bigger moments always helps tell the full story. From the close-up in hand to the quiet in-between moments over drinks, every part of this session felt meaningful.
Malorie and Dave, thank you for trusting me to capture this season for you. Your session was such a beautiful reminder that the best photos don’t come from perfect weather or elaborate plans—they come from real connection, real joy, and simply being together. If your engagement session is any indication of what your wedding day will be like, it is going to be absolutely incredible.
Fort Atkinson showed off for this one, and so did these two.
